Concepts of Change
Alignment:
Alignment of initiatives means all parties agree that the change initiative, when properly implemented, will take the organization in the right direction. Without it, a group or department, or the organization, could veer off, moving away from its vision and strategic objectives.
Bridge:
Bridge provides the pathway between the present and future states. It establishes why the present state isn’t working any longer, what the future state needs to be, and how to move to the future state. Without it, performers meander down different pathways, hold on to the past, or create barriers for themselves and others; the change may not take hold or achieve the expected business results.
Commitment:
Commitment from stakeholders and performers is critical to the success of any change initiative. Without it, resistance and apathy can build to the point that the pathway to the future state is blocked and the present state gets more entrenched.
Understanding:
The change starts with me. I need to understand the change, participate in the change, and own the change. I am the change! Can you be the change too?
